Floral DIY Easter Bunny Wreath

Inspiration

My inspiration for Easter crafts in general comes from the whimsical animals associated with Easter- bunnies, chicks, speckled eggs and the soft pastel colours that are associated with this holiday. I have a soft spot for pastel colours and Easter is one of the times when I can fully indulge in this colour palette. For this wreath, I’ve decided to mix pastels with more vibrant shades of pink and yellow. I love the pink-yellow colour combination and spring is the best time to use this pretty palette. When I saw the grapevine bunny wreath base at the dollar store, I knew I would be making a bunny wreath for Easter this year. I hope you can find a similar one.

Materials for the Floral DIY Easter Bunny Wreath

  • Cardboard box or drop cloth to protect your work surface
  • Grapevine bunny wreath form
  • Floral wire cutters
  • Floral wire (light gauge)
  • Sharp scissors
  • Burlap ribbon
  • Faux florals in shades of pink, white, and yellow

Instructions for the

Lay down a cardboard box or drop cloth to protect your work surface. The wreath base is quite messy but the box made cleanup very easy.
Using wire cutters, trim the floral stems down to a length of 3 inches. Remove any greenery that you don’t want to be part of the wreath.
Start poking the stems into the bottom circle of the wreath base. The tightly packed wreath base will hold the stems in place without the need to secure each stem with wire. Make sure to alternate evenly between the different flowers and fill the front and sides of the wreath base.

Continue working around the wreath, adding each type of flower as you go. I added the white sunflowers early on because of their larger size and limited number. I did this to ensure that they were evenly spaced, plus it made it easy to fill in sections of the wreath with the remaining flowers.

Finally, I made a bow with the burlap ribbon using the floral wire to hold the bow together and to fasten it to one of the bunny ears.
This wreath took me about 40 minutes to make including clean-up time.

The Finished Wreath

I think it turned out pretty cute and it’s the perfect craft to do to get you feeling the spring vibes. It’s easy enough for a beginner to try and for little hands to do. I think it would be appropriate for ages 10 and up, but younger kids could definitely help choosing and organizing the flowers.
